As Ferrari was fully focused on Formula 1 at the time, the Ferrari 512 BB LM was built specifically for wealthy privateer teams such as NART (Luigi Chinetti) and Charles Pozzi. The cars sped around the circuit at over 320 km/h. The absolute highlight at Le Mans was an impressive 5th place overall (and a class victory) in 1981, achieved by the Charles Pozzi team. A total of only 25 examples of these brutal BB LMs were built.
